Senior Program
The mission of the Senior Program is to develop patrollers who possess broad expertise, superior skills, and outstanding leadership. The program consists of core and elective requirements tailored to the needs of alpine patrollers, Nordic patrollers, and other patrollers. Core requirements vary among disciplines, but all require the OEC Module of the Senior Program. This module trains patrollers in the leadership, decision making, and problem solving needed to manage unusually challenging or complex emergencies. Senior electives—many of them in such NSP disciplines as Avalanche, Instructor Development, Mountain Travel and Rescue, and Outdoor Emergency Transportation—help broaden the training to other aspects of patrolling.
